Amber - Gunalt Ocean Dream

10.11.1996 - 06.11.2009

This page is a tribute to my super Weimaraner, Amber

She was my first dog I owned by myself and I got her as soon as I bought my first home in 1996!! It was a pleasure to share my life with her, she was a very patient dog who loved everyone and everything and had no ounce of malice in her at all.

I showed Amber and we had some success in the ring, I remember her winning Yearling Bitch at the Weimaraner Association at Uttoxeter and being over the moon.

However, Amber's real love was that of food and the Ball !  She loved to run and was the happiest being outside in the fields chasing for the ball, and then coming home to some good grub.  We trained with Wakefield DTC and did Agility and Working Trials training which she enjoyed, especially the retrieves and the search squares, should we have persued it in more earnest I know she would have been able to get her CD, but we just enjoyed having fun together.

In the last few years she was plagued with arthritis and was quite stiff, but she soldiered on and lived life to the full until her last few days, when unfortunately the muscles in her back end failed and she could no longer stand or go to the toilet properly.  She was in a lot of pain, and I made the most difficult decision to let her go.  She slipped away in my arms 4 days before her 13th birthday.

Sleep well Amber, free from pain, keep chasing those balls and squirrels, look after Rosie (my mum and dads little Yorkie) until we meet again on the Bridge.

Here are some photos of her throughout her long and happy life.
